What is a Personal Trainer?
In insurance terms, a Personal trainer is defined as; A professional fitness instructor who trains clients on a one-to-one basis outside of a Club facility.
Am I covered for clients who use my services on an irregular basis?
The policy will also cover for clients who use the services of the Personal Trainer on a one-off, speculative or irregular basis.
I am a PT in a club facility, will I still be covered?
Where one-to-one training takes place within a Club facility this is defined as a Gym Instructor and is covered under the Group exercise policy. The quotation form requests information covering aspects of one-to-one training activities and also allows you to declare Group Exercise activities, which can be covered under the same policy.
What does Public Liability cover me for?
This indemnifies the Insured for damages and legal costs arising out of third party bodily injury and third party property damage. The public liability policy is written on an ‘occurrence basis’ which means that any valid claim occurring during the period of insurance will be paid at any point in the future, subject to the statutory limitations laid down by the law.*
What does Professional Indemnity cover me for?
This indemnifies the insured for breaches of professional duty arising from negligent acts, errors or omissions.
I teach one-to-one and group exercise classes, can you cover me for both?
Yes, the quotation form requests information covering aspects of one-to-one training and group exercise activities, which can be covered under the same policy.
Am I protected if a claim is made after the period of the insurance expires and I no longer hold an insurance policy?
Most liability claims occur many months, even years after the alleged incident actually took place. Professional Fitness’ public liability cover is written on an ‘occurrence basis’ which gives you peace of mind knowing that any valid claim occurring during the period of insurance will be paid at any point in the future, subject to the statutory limitations laid down by the law. *
Can I get personal accident cover that includes loss of earnings cover?
Our personal accident cover will pay 75% of your average weekly earnings up to a maximum of ?100.00 per week and this is payable for up to 104 weeks excluding the first fourteen days.
Can I also be covered for sports massage?
Yes, for a small additional cost of ?44.00 (inclusive of IPT) our sports massage cover will provide you with additional liability cover for giving therapeutic sports massages. The policy will not cover you for complementary therapies.
I am a British citizen but reside abroad, can I still get cover from you?
We only cover persons who are residents in Great Britain, Northern Island (max. public liability ?2m), the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands or at valid BFPO addresses.
Are there exclusions or limitations to the policy?
- Cover is not available for participant-to-participant claims where one participant causes damage to another during a class.
- You are not covered unless you hold a recognised qualification in the activity(s), which are insured.
